Serankottai or Cheran Kottai is the tree growing in Himalaya and Bengal Hill Regions. Its Seeds are collected, dried well and available as raw seeds. It is also called as Vallathi in Tamil, Marking nut tree in English, Bilawan in Hindi, Gerkayi in Kannada. Only seeds of this plant is used by human and no other parts are used by human.

These seeds has been used by our ancient Siddhars to cure Piles, Stomach Pain, Poision, and for various Skin Diseases like Kusta, Kranthi, and Venoms.
