Maratti Mokku or Marathi Moggu is the most commonly used spice in Kannada and in South India. It is mostly used in Non Veg dishes to increase the aroma and the taste. It has been used by our ancestors in making Siddha and Ayurveda Medicines. It is actually the buds of Capok Tree or Silk Cotton Tree. It is called as Tella Buruga in Telugu, Pulla and Mul Ilava in Malayalam, Shalmali or Semal in Hindi.

It can be used to treat Pitha Dosha and Diarrhoea.
